Edition 13
Hi folks,The rainy winter has brought grey scenery all around Curitiba. Schools have delayed reopening after the traditional winter break in July due to the swine flu virus; meanwhile, parents have been trying to create stimulating home activities for their children. Live theater and musical performances have been cancelled to discourage large gatherings of people in closed spaces. Even restaurants have been half empty. We’ve been told to wash our hands after touching elevator call buttons or doorknobs, to avoid riding the bus when possible, and even to pass up shaking hands. Because of all this, many Curitibanos have been forced to make difficult changes in their daily lives.
We hope everyone has adjusted and is now getting excited about the coming splendor of Spring. This is the time of year when life begins again in nature. In a few days you will wake up, take a shower and go to work under a warm morning sun. You will meet people with a smile on your face and arrange family gatherings, barbecues, football matches, bicycle rides, fishing trips or go for a walk in one of Curitiba’s many parks. So, hold on, be happy and move ahead.
Look at this fantastic picture…I was told it was taken the day God dropped his paint palette on earth.
Cheers,
Nelson G. Santos
