Curitiba, The City we are in Love withYoung, modern, beautiful, blasting energy...
This is Curitiba.
Paulo Cesar Chaves - my partner while member of the Samjazz Quintet, a remarkable musical band that was present at the most important events that took place in Curitiba´s dancing rooms, ont the 70´s and 80´s – wrote a song that was a local hit.
The song, “Piá Curitibano” was continuously played on radio stations and the audience could overdub it or just hum.
Eu conheço bem o jeito desta cidade, que é bonita e usa blazer no verão... “I know verty well the airs of this city, which is beautiful and uses a blazer in the summer...”.
Curitiba is not the same... and Piá Curitibano is at limbo.
Some other poets must erupt, bringing new words and a new melody, to harmonize with the strength of this young and interesting city that turned out a beautiful metropolis, with agreeable parks, efficient transport system, beautiful buildings, modern architectures, verty nice gardens, neat streets and squares, lovely scenery that shows off preservation of its environment.
The city wakes-up early to face a fast-paced work day shift, with loaded big buses transporting all sorts of labourers and students. The streets have their tracks always drawing lines of cars in movement, pressing low drivers to go ahead or make room, as fast drivers rush in, for time is money. After a long and hard working day, stressing eyes and mind on word processors, one can easily hang out in delicious restaurants, pubs, coffee bars, theatres; stroll on very nice shopping centers, see very cute and beautiful people; healthy and strong, feel how they can move in a world with such new references, new sound, new dressing, new looks, meals, drinks and quality of life.
This sort of things make Curitiba fantastic.
Yes, just .... fall in love with.
